Running a Test Transaction with the IDTech VP3300
Note: If you are having issues with the card reader reading cards, you will need to go through this process and retry steps 3-9, more than likely multiple times. Make sure your dollar amount is ≥ $0.50. Even though the screenshots depict $0.25 GrowthZone Pay requires 50 cents or more for a successful transaction.
Step 1. Tap the three bars in the upper left corner of your screen
Step 2. Tap the ‘Point of Sale’ option
Step 3. Tap the point-of-sale item you would like to use for your test
Step 4. Manually adjust the price and quantity if needed from this screen, then tap ‘Add’
Step 5. Tap ‘Continue’
Step 6. For testing purposes, tap ‘Guest’ then ‘Continue’
Note: For more extensive testing prior to an event, try the ‘Existing Member’ and ‘Existing Rep’ options so you are familiar.
Step 7. With a power source – Skip to Step 9 - The unit will already be on and connected
No power source – Press the power button on the VP3300 to wake it up (you will see the blue flashing light) then tap the ‘Check for Reader Now’
Note: To turn on the VP3300, you do not need to apply much pressure to the power button. Just use the pad of your finger. Avoid using a pen or similar device because this may jam the button which in turn never let the device turn off and it also will not allow the Bluetooth function to work as intended. The button should be flush with the casing. If this has already happened and the button is reassessed, use a pen or something similar to jostle the button until it comes back to flush with the casing. To know it worked, wait 30 seconds and the unit will turn off.
Step 8. Tap ‘VP3300BT’ in the Choose Reader list selection
For a moment this screen will appear while establishing the connection
Step 9. Choose from the following options by tapping on the mode of card reading you would like to use.
Note: We recommend using the ‘Swipe/Tap Card’ option as this one tends to read the card faster, and it will also beep to signify that the reader has captured the cards information. It is also more intuitive on which way the card goes rather than ‘Insert Card’.
*If you in decide to insert the card, when looking at the IDTECH logo the card will go in upside-down chip-side up.
Step 10. ‘Payment read successfully’ while doing testing, you should use the ‘Cancel’ button to avoid the payment being accepted. When doing this for an event, make sure you use the ‘Submit Payment Now’ option. If the transaction is not associated with a member/rep, at this point you can enter an email address if they would like you to send them a receipt of purchase.
