Event Meta Description
The Meta Description should be a 1-2 sentence summary of the event, and is often visible in search engine results, social media posts, and shares. Customizing the Meta Description allows you to better target your message and hopefully improve your click-through rate. If the Meta Description field is left blank, it will automatically populate with the Event Search Description (if available) and then fall back to the first 160 characters of the Event Description. The same text can be used for Search Description (if available) as what is used in the Meta Description field if you'd like. You can put more text into the Search Description field because it currently allows unlimited characters whereas the Meta Description is limited to 320 characters. But be careful not to get too wordy!
Note: The Search Description field is only available to customers that have v2 or v3 public modules. Customers with v1 public modules will not display this field at all and will only see the Meta Description field.
Event Search Description
The Search Description text will display as "teaser text" in your website's event search results. Click here to view an example. The same text can be used for Search Description as what is used in the Meta Description field if you'd like. You can put more text into the Search Description field because it currently allows unlimited characters whereas the Meta Description is limited to 160 characters. But be careful not to get too wordy!
The Meta Description and the Search Description can be found on the General tab of your event.
