- 10 GB max is our stated maximum
- We are not able to monitor how much a customer uses – very tough for us to do and so we have not pursued that.
- Technically customers are unlimited
- Stating the 10 GB limit helps
- to help guide the customer in understanding it is not a place you want to store EVERYTHING – you should think in terms of a limit
- and also alerts us to customers that might be asking and wanting to do more with Cloud Drive than we would recommend and allows us to have a conversation
When a customer asks about getting more storage, my thoughts would be that we should indicate that
- although technically their storage is not limited to 10 GB, it is a recommended max. And it would likely not be in their best interest to use more than that.
- Why? Often when someone needs more than 10 GB it is because they want to store things that won’t work well in our storage system.
- What are they looking to store? If they need more than 10 GB then it sounds like they might be wanting to store multi-media resources (videos, large image files, providing a streaming service). Our cloud drive is not optimized for anything but file storage and retrieval and would not be satisfactory to host a library of multi-media images/videos.
- So then – we are full circle back to the suggestions Dan and Alison mentioned – other storage options that are readily available to them!
